  • OneDrive is a cloud based storage system. Through the district, you have 1 TB worth of space!!!

What can I do with it?

  • Store files
  • Share files
  • Have students wirelessly send you files

We are going to go over some of the basic components of OneDrive

  • This video is from the districts webinar on OneDrive. The focus of this video is ...

1) How to get logged on (It also shows the screen students see when they login)

OneDrive - Sharing a folder through a link

OneDrive

Do you want students to upload a file to you?
Do you want it organized by class period?

You can create a folder in OneDrive and then share a link to your students.  They can then upload files (or download files that you created).

Step One: Login to onedrive.live.com

  • Username: Your email address
  • Password: Your ENCORE password
Step Two: Select "OneDrive" in the upper dashboard
Step Three: Select"New" to create a folder to share with your students

Step Four: Give your folder a new new name
  • For example, you could call the file "2nd Period 9th Grade Science"
Step Five: Once you click "Save", click on the "..." after the name of the file
Step Six: Copy the link
Step Seven: Students can then go to this link and upload files to the website

  • How could they access this?
You could attach this link to your website

Students would then click on the link, login to the Office 365 account and then select "upload".

Kahoot (Review Game)

Kahoot

What does it do?

  • You can create a review quiz, discussion blog, or a survey.

  • Strengths:

You can use anything that has internet (netbooks, laptops, ipads, even their cell phones)

How do I create an activity?

Go to create.kahoot.it

  1. You will need to create a login
  2. Select which option you would like . . .

  • When you create a discussion, the following screen pops up

  • When you create a quiz, this is the starting page, you will then work through the steps to create each question.

  • The following screen appears to create your quiz.

4.  Once you are finished, students can play your game.

This is a great activity that helps students get excited about reviews.  It also give you data on how students did.

Here's a quick example of my students using it in my class.

Google Forms

Google Forms!!!

What are google forms? It is a free tool from Google that allows you to do the following:

This is a great instructional tool when you are either trying. . . .
  • Gather information from students
  • Have students gather and analyze information
How could I use this tool?
  • Create a grid form to fill out data from a science experiment
  •  Create a form for students to evaluate classmates’ presentations.
    • Teacher can average results to grade the presentation
  •  Ask a student to evaluate a source (website, chart, video. Etc)
  •  Create an annotated bibliography
    • Have students begin researching a topic. When they find a topic useful for themselves or the class - they fill out the form (name, topic, summary of fact and list the source; When all sources have been documented, share the spreadsheet with the class
  • Students answer an opinion question
    • Answers are collected via the form and answers are displayed and debate their rankings
  • Assigning topics and partners for projects
    • Students choose from a list of topics for their 1st, 2nd, and 3rd choice of topic. They also choose if they wish to have a partner and if yes who that partner will be.
  •  Sign up sheet for topics
  •  Online Reading Record
  • Student Project Management
    • Create a form that allows each group to report about what stage they are in the project, questions they may have, etc.
  • Create and Graph the results of a survey

Example from my class . . .

  1. Students went and collected data about where their “stuff” comes from.  I then had them complete the following form

      2.  The data compiled into a spreadsheet

      3.  We then analyzed the data by creating charts and a cartogram.  It was a great way to manage the data!

How can I do this?
This website ( Google Forms Website) gives fantastic step by step instructions.  So if you want to try it yourself this is a great place to start . . . . HOWEVER, you don't have to start by yourself:)  I am happy to help discuss, create, and implement this idea into your classroom.  Let me know if you are interested and I will help to make this a successful experience!!

Creating Assessments in MasteryConnect

Educational technology should do one of two things

Simplify Life
Increase learning in the classroom

Mastery Connect does that!!

Note: Most of the work occurs PRIOR to testing.

Step One: Create your assessments

  • This is just like you did in the past. Create your quiz in WORD or PAGES.  (If you use PAGES, save your file as a .pdf)
  • You can use the following assessment questions in your test
    • Multiple Choice
    • True/False
    • Rubric
    • Open Answer (Similar to short answer. You would go back and grade this but it is stored in your tracker)
      • You can use a mixture of any of these questions

Step Two: Create a tracker (This is your class roll where you upload the assessments.  You create one for each class)

Step Three: Add assessments to your classes

Instructions on how to add an assessment

Step Four: Giving the Assessment

Step Five: Import Grades into ENCORE

  • Just as you did before, create an assignment in ENCORE (Keep this window open)
  • Go into Masteryconnect.
  • Key Element: Keep your masteryconnect window open when you hit "f8" in ENCORE
